| Breastfeeding Support is available through:
Blossoming Bellies offers breastfeeding support through private and group prenatal classes, private in- home postpartum visits, and a postpartum breastfeeding support group. Brittany is a certified breastfeeding counselor with Nursing Mothers Alliance. Her knowledge includes breastfeeding basics, positioning and latching on, nursing babies with health concerns, nursing multiples, nipple and breast issues, breastfeeding during employment, expressing and storing milk, and more. | Group Prenatal Classes This one-time two hour class discusses breastfeeding basics including nursing in the immediate postpartum, milk production, latch, positioning, and maternal nutrition needs during lactation. Information on storing and expressing milk is covered along with an overview of possible nursing and pumping complications and their resolutions. Individual concerns are addressed and techniques and tips to ease the nursing relationship are shared. The cost of the group prenatal breastfeeding class is $35. | Private Prenatal Classes This one-time two hour class takes place privately in the expecting parents home. Breastfeeding basics are discussed including nursing in the immediate postpartum, milk production, latch, and positioning. Information on storing and expressing milk is covered along with an overview of possible nursing and pumping complications and their resolutions. Individual concerns are addressed and techniques and tips to ease the nursing relationship are shared. The cost of private prenatal breastfeeding classes is $100. For clients outside the county of Philadelphia, a $15 travel-related expenses fee will be added to the cost of private breastfeeding support services. |
| Postpartum In-Home Support Visits Postpartum breastfeeding support visits are also available. Brittany works one-on-one with the mother and baby in their own home to help facilitate comfortable and convenient nursing. Individual concerns and problems are addressed and solutions are developed in a hands-on manner that works for both the mother and child. The cost of postpartum breastfeeding support visits is $60 per hour. Phone consults after initial visits are available at the cost of $40 per hour or $20 per half hour. Contact Brittany to set up a visit. Blossoming Bellies' birth doula services include one postpartum visit where breastfeeding support is a priority. Additional breastfeeding support visits can be purchased at the cost of $60 per hour.
