Pelvic Floor Health:

Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum

Maintaining pelvic floor health through the journey of pregnancy and birth can be a challenge.  This workshop for expectant parents, postpartum people, and birth professionals focuses on understanding the effects of lifestyle, pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum care on common challenges including abdominal diastasis recti and pelvic floor damage and, more importantly, helps one develop the knowledge and techniques for preventing damage and maintaining a healthy body.

As a society, we've come to expect, wrongfully so, that issues such as incontinence, organ prolapse, and separation of the abdominal muscles are a normal part of carrying and birthing a baby as well as aging.  This does not and should not be the case!  A healthy core and a healthy pelvic floor are possible after birth and as one grows older.  With an understanding of bodily mechanics, lifestyle effects, and intuitive biomechanics, we can preserve the strong and healthy state of our bodies.

This workshop combines movement with research-based information, insight into common birthing practices that may cause long term damage, and modifications to daily living and exercising that will help to prevent the overstretching, bulging, and/or tension that can lead to complications.  Participants will leave feeling empowered, knowledgeable, and ready to embrace a strong and healthy body!

A few things to keep in mind about this class and life:
This is not an exercise class although it does incorporate movement and exercise-based content (so come ready to move but not work up a sweat!).

It is common but NOT NORMAL to pee when you laugh or sneeze or do a jumping jack and the info from this class will help to prevent that.

This is not a birth class.  Take a birth class then come here for more in-depth info that will take you into the postpartum.

This class is useful for anyone whom is pregnant, regardless of how one is birthing, where one is birthing, and how many times they've given birth.

Postpartum folks are welcome to attend as well but may find that some of the content will be less relevant (such as that geared towards pregnancy and birth).

Birth professionals are encouraged to attend as the information is incredibly helpful for supporting expectant and new families through their childbearing journey.

Upcoming Pelvic Floor Health Workshops:

If you are a birth professional interested in this workshop, we have a two part webinar series available here that includes contact hours for doula and childbirth education recertification!
