I've used the information from this class in every birth I've attended since, and have had L&D nurses ask where I learned these techniques. I prefer to use backup doulas who've taken the class as well, as my clients seem to really value it. |
Thanks again! So much of the info from your class helped me guide two different moms through hospital VBACs this weekend. |
Workshops For Birth Professionals
Creating Space: Pelvic Dynamics, Fetal Positioning, and the Use of the Rebozo
Creating Space: Pelvic Dynamics, Fetal Positioning, and the Use of the Rebozo
Creating Space is a movement based biomechanics approach to labor progress and comfort with the intention of reducing complications and unnecessary intervention. Learn usable information for what labor positions and relaxation techniques to suggest at specific different points during the birth process and, most importantly, why certain techniques are more effective than others at certain times in labor.
This workshop for birth support professionals will benefit prenatal and birth workers - doulas, midwives, obstetricians, nurses, childbirth educators, chiropractors, massage therapists - both new and experienced. Emphasis is placed on better understanding the relationship between pelvic dynamics and fetal positioning and the movement and positions that facilitate labor progress. Information is presented in an interactive hands-on format that encourages participation to facilitate anatomical understanding, the development of skills and techniques for encouraging clients to feel empowered in their bodies, and the positions, techniques, and concepts for birth professionals to feel confident in supporting labors both medicated and unmedicated, in any setting.
Discussion begins with the role of the birth worker in both educating the client about and encouraging the client to understand their pelvis
and their baby's movement through pregnancy and labor in relation to pelvic space and in supporting the client in taking advantage of this
knowledge during labor. Common position-related labor complications throughout the labor process will be covered in depth, along with support measures for releasing tension to encourage descent and rotation. An in-depth discussion and hands-on practice of positions for facilitating optimal positioning of the baby - pelvis-dependent - and encouraging descent and rotation through all stages and phases of labor provides birth workers with insight and tools for working with clients to reduce interventions and the risk of cesarean sections. Common myths surrounding pelvic shape and fetal positioning are debunked through research-based exploration and evidence based resources. The Rebozo is introduced from a perspective that leaves participants with an understanding of its rich history and role in traditional Mexican and Meso American culture. Rebozo techniques for relaxation of the pelvic floor, uterus, and lower back are practiced in addition to a discussion of ways in which the Rebozo has been traditionally used to help facilitate the labor process. Participants will leave feeling inspired, knowledgeable, and full of information to start sharing with clients right away!

Thank you Brittany! I will definitely put into practice the information, strategies and techniques I learned in your workshop. I also appreciate your open and sincere teaching style. You clearly have a genuine passion for this very important aspect of labor and birth, and for sharing what you know. I can see why people return to your class again and again. |
I'm a childbirth educator, prenatal yoga teacher and birth doula in practice for over 20 years. I attended Brittany's Pelvic Opening Workshop this weekend and was delighted by how much I learned! Brittany has not only passion for her topic but tremendous expertise, and is a warm and well spoken facilitator. Highly recommend ! - Dena Marchiony, ICCE, IAT-CE |

Today was just wonderful... and so informative. Optimal fetal positioning makes so much sense. Your demonstrations, explanations, insight and wisdom were really helpful. It really was such an amazing workshop. I can't thank you enough. I learned so much, and have been telling all my pregnant friends about what they can do to help their alignment!! |
I just wanted to say Thank You again for opening your home and sharing your knowledge with us. I learned a lot and would recommend it to other doulas seeking more information on the pelvis and rebozo work. I also appreciate your quick follow up! Good Morning Thanks for your in-depth workshop. I greatly appreciated your diversity in presentation materials and your affirming statement on respecting all cultures. Brittany, U Rock! Thank you so much for the amazing workshop. We learned so much and enjoyed it a lot. |
I've been a doula for 25 years, and I thank you for the info and the awesome class!
