The role of the labor assistant is one of guidance and physical, emotional, and informational support for the expectant and partner (if applicable) during labor and birth. Doulas offer a calming presence and help to relieve anxiety, tension, fear, and nervousness in the laboring person and their supporters. By absorbing their fears and reflecting assuredness, serenity, and empowerment, a peaceful and calming atmosphere is created. The doula helps ensure a nurtured and loving transition into the postpartum period.
Brittany has been providing doula services to the greater Philadelphia area since 2007. Through classes, doula support, and lactation services, she has supported thousands of families throughout their birthing journeys, and her workshops on pelvic biomechanics and fetal positioning during the labor and birth process are sought after by medical providers and birth professionals around the world. Her doula support focuses strongly on using research-based information to support the expectant person in advocating for themselves during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Brittany also incorporates an in-depth understanding of movement during labor (in both medicated and unmedicated births) to help prevent complications and encourage an efficient and smooth labor. Her support is always non-judgmental and with the intention of creating a safe space for birthing people to explore and develop their own priorities. Brittany supports the laboring person in being an informed decision making participant in their pregnancy without feeling pressured to labor or birth in any particular way.
The cost of Blossoming Bellies birth doula services is $3000.
Payment plans are available. Cash, check, Zelle, or ApplePay are accepted for payment.
For those desiring in person prenatal and postpartum visits, travel fees may apply.
