Improving Reproductive Health Outcomes:

Scholarship Fund

The United States is the ONLY developed country with a maternal mortality rate that continues to increase.  Black birthing people are 3 to 4 times more likely to die in childbirth than white birthing people, regardless of education, income, or other socio-economic factors. (Source: Centers for Disease Control)

In an effort to combat the institutionalized racism and structural bias that plagues the reproductive health care system and affects millions of families every year, Blossoming Bellies has set up a scholarship fund to provide free and low-cost childbirth education to expectant families that are unable to pay the full cost of classes and to provide partial scholarships to birth workers of color desiring to participate in the Blossoming Bellies Birth Professional Mentorship program as well as opportunities to attend Blossoming Bellies pelvic biomechanics workshops.

To either
DONATE or RECEIVE

For Expectant Parents
The information gathered in a childbirth class can help develop the skills and knowledge base for an empowering and positive birthing experience.  The opportunity to build a foundation of evidence based information and usable skills and techniques for labor and birth should  be available to everyone.

Blossoming Bellies scholarship fund provides group childbirth education opportunities to those whom may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of a class.

If you'd like more information about the scholarship fund or would like to donate a childbirth class to a family in need, please complete the appropriate form below.

For Birth Professionals
Blossoming Bellies Birth Professional Mentorship program is a six month program that supports the new and experienced doula in building their business, assessing their philosophies and goals, and working with their clients.  The program includes one on one meetings (virtual or in-person), daytime and overnight telephone support, text message support, community gatherings, and more.  Check out more about the program here.

Blossoming Bellies pelvic biomechanics workshops aim to provide birth professionals with the knowledge and skills to support healthy birth, particularly in regards to utilizing movement, understanding the role of pseudoscience and racism in the classification of pelvic shape, and supporting birthing people of color, those with long labors, and those with posterior babies.  Choose from two workshops (or take both), Creating Space: Pelvic Dynamics and Fetal Positioning for an Efficient Birth and Pelvic Shape, Fetal Positioning, and Obstetrical Bias: The Role of Pelvic Shape Classification and Optimal Fetal Positioning in the Perpetuation of Bias in Childbirth.

Blossoming Bellies Scholarship Fund provides partial scholarships to birth professionals of color whom would like to take part in the mentorship program.
