Good Morning Thanks for your in-depth workshop. I greatly appreciated your diversity in presentation materials and your affirming statement on respecting all cultures. Brittany, U Rock! |
I've used the information from this class in every birth I've attended since, and have had L&D nurses ask where I learned these techniques. I prefer to use backup doulas who've taken the class as well, as my clients seem to really value it. |

Thank you Brittany! You are an excellent facilitator-- so knowledgeable, so much evidence to support what you are saying, you are open to questions and feedback, you made people feel comfortable with trying out and doing strange positions. I can't wait to try some of these new positions with patients!

Creating Space is a movement based biomechanical approach to labor progress and comfort with the intention of reducing complications and unnecessary intervention. Learn usable information for what labor positions and relaxation techniques to suggest at specific different points during the birth process and, most importantly, why certain techniques are more effective than others at certain times in labor.
This workshop for birth support professionals will benefit prenatal and birth workers - doulas, midwives, obstetricians, nurses, childbirth educators, chiropractors, massage therapists - both new and experienced. Develop a deep understanding of the relationship between pelvic biomechanics and fetal positioning and create the foundation for encouraging effective movement and positioning to facilitate labor progress. Evidence based information combines with Brittany’s over 17 years of experience and is presented in an interactive hands-on format that encourages participation to facilitate anatomical understanding, to develop the skills and techniques for supporting client-centered birth experiences, and the" why" behind positions and movements for efficient birthing. Birth professionals will gain confidence and a skill set for supporting labors both medicated and unmedicated, in any setting.
Discussion begins with understanding pelvic anatomy from the bony structure to the pelvic floor. From there, we move into similarities and differences in pelvic shape and the biomechanical laws of movement. Discussion shifts to the role of the baby in navigating the pelvis and the various positions and presentations babies assume to make their way down and out. Current research on pelvic shape and the false theory of optimal fetal positioning is explored and reframed for an evidence-based perspective on labor progress and position-related labor stalls. Common myths surrounding pelvic shape and fetal positioning are debunked through research-based exploration and evidence based resources. An in-depth discussion and hands-on practice of positions for facilitating optimal positioning of the baby - pelvis-dependent - and encouraging descent and rotation through all stages and phases of labor provides birth workers with insight and tools for working with clients to reduce interventions and the risk of cesarean sections. Participants will leave feeling inspired, knowledgeable, and full of information to start sharing with clients right away!
Handouts are included in the workshop and are intended to be used as a reference after completion of the workshop. Our positioning handbooks are available at a discounted rate with the purchase of a workshop ticket.
"I'm an English RN studying midwifery in Australia and I was amazed at the introductions of the whole group and seeing how vast everyone's experiences in the birth world are. The differences between practice of health care providers in areas/states is similar to here in Aus. And the medicalization I've seen here is astounding! And in my training here I fear I am just learning how to be an obstetrician's aide. Hence why I was looking for something like your workshop to help me understand the basic principles of facilitating birth without intervention and despite intervention and it delivered SO MUCH MORE!
You're a really talented teacher, I understood things whilst watching that I've been struggling to conceptualise about the mechanics of labour and you are so enthusiastic it's infectious! THANK YOU!" - Roxanne L.

Thank you so much for this info. Your workshop was honestly mind blowing. Even having 2 kids of my own, all of this info feels completely new. I’ll definitely need to purchase your booklet because I don’t think I could remember all of the details. Thank you again for the follow up and the support!

I'm a childbirth educator, prenatal yoga teacher and birth doula in practice for over 20 years. I attended Brittany's Pelvic Opening Workshop this weekend and was delighted by how much I learned! Brittany has not only passion for her topic but tremendous expertise, and is a warm and well spoken facilitator. Highly recommend ! - Dena Marchiony, ICCE, IAT-CE

It really was such an amazing workshop. I can't thank you enough. I learned so much, and have been telling all my pregnant friends about what they can do to help their alignment!! |
